Major inspections must be conducted at the end of a crane’s design life, as specified by the manufacturer’s instructions. If these instructions are unavailable, a competent person must determine the inspection requirements to meet the minimum standards outlined in relevant technical regulations.
If it is not reasonably practicable to inspect the crane based on the manufacturer’s guidance or a competent person’s determination, inspections should occur at least every 7 to 10 years from the crane’s commissioning or registration date, whichever comes first. These inspections must cover the crane’s structure, mechanical components, non-destructive testing (NDT), and all critical parts.
Third-party crane inspection involves an independent assessment of the crane’s condition to ensure compliance with current standards. It also includes an audit of your current crane service provider. A third-party inspection must be conducted annually. We provide a detailed report outlining the crane’s condition and whether it meets local legislation and Australian Standards. Additionally, ECM Industrial can perform a Design Work Period (DWP) calculation, although this is not a requirement under Australian Standards.
